Today, the self-portraiture tradition has evolved into the modern-day “selfie.” With the rise of smartphones and social media, people take more self-portraits than ever, sharing them with friends and followers online. While selfies are often dismissed as narcissistic or trivial, they can also be seen as a form of self-expression and a way of exploring one’s identity and place in the world.
