Introduction to Photopea and the Floating Girl Tutorial

Project Introduction

Welcome to the Digital Dreamscape project, where imagination meets digital artistry. In this project, we will explore the Surrealism movement, a 20th-century avant-garde movement in art and literature which sought to release the creative potential of the unconscious mind. Surrealism is known for its dream-like visuals, unexpected juxtapositions, and illogical scenes, making it the perfect inspiration for our artistic journey.

Objectives:

  • Understand the principles and aesthetics of the Surrealism movement.
  • Develop skills in digital image manipulation using Photopea, a versatile online photo editing tool.
  • Create a digital composite that visually represents a personal dream or dream recollection.

Task 2 – The Floating Girl Tutorial Using Photopea

The Floating Girl Tutorial Summary

  1. Masking is better than erasing because masking allows users to undo mistakes, but erasing is destructive and one-way (especially when closing files and apps).
  2. The hue and Saturation adjustment is a powerful way to change an image layer’s hue (or colour). It is also effective in removing colour (Desaturate).
  3. Gaussian Blur can be used to blur an image. Gaussian Blur is preferable due to the sliding scale that controls the blur.
